The KMC/SBBH contract expiration has been extended until after Labor day in order to allow the Union to obtain realistic data from the Hospital as to what they intended to do regarding our Pension and Medical Plans next year. File under: Bargaining
The Union has made several proposals regarding improvements in your working conditions, pay, and medical and pension benefits. After nine bargaining sessions the Union made progress on issues such as protecting employees in the event of a layoffs; improving the pulling procedure; distributing holidays more equitably and to ensure the full holiday off if you request; and improving the procedure of making weekends up. However, the Hospital has absolutely refused all PTO/EIB proposals. File under: Bargaining
After ten sessions of negotiations between NJNU and the Hospital, no agreement has been reached and the contract has been extended to June 5, 2009. Progress has been made in the areas of weekend scheduling, pulling, holiday, and layoff language. And while the Hospital states that they give our nurses their 2 non-guaranteed breaks, this is simply not the case. Yes, breaks are assigned and written on paper, but this is not proof that the breaks are indeed taken. The Hospital insists that the nurses get their breaks consistantly! So please call for your breaks! File under: Bargaining
The NJNU Bargaining Committee successfully negotiated a collective bargaining agreement that addresses staffing, wages, healthcare, and pensions. The highlights of the agreement are as follows: 1. Duration: November 2, 2006 through November 1, 2009. 2. Check-Off: Dues will be deducted weekly for all regular full-time and part-time employees. All per diems will continue to have their dues deducted from the first week in the month in which they have any earnings. 3. Holidays: Any nurse that is required to work a holiday, will be granted the eve of the holiday off. Any night nurse that is required to work the eve of the holiday, will have the actual night of the holiday off. File under: Bargaining
