The New Jersey Nurses Union (NJNU) was created by working nurses at St. Barnabas Medical Center who desired strong representation in all areas of professional concern. Since its inception in 1991, NJNU has proven effective in negotiating its contracts and making certain that the terms and conditions or the contracts are upheld. 11-11-09 Bargaining Update File under: Bargaining
Attention All Nurses!
1. We are still in negotiations and we are trying to achieve a Contract that is fair and protects our pensions. 2. Contrary to what management has reported, we have not given the 10 day Notice but we are preparing for a Strike should it be necessary. 3. We are in the process of designating our Strike Captains and we are scheduling training sessions for the Captains. 4. We are asking all of our nurses to turn their bracelets inside out and write on them “I’m Ready to Walk.” 5. We have negotiations with St. Barnabas on Wednesday and we will schedule a Kimball and St Barnabas Behavioral negotiations session within the next week. File under: Bargaining
11-07-09 NJNU NEGOTIATION UPDATE FOR SBMC, KMC, SBBHC MEMBERS As of today November 7, 2009, your SBMC bargaining team ended negotiations last night at 11:30 pm. We have just about resolved non-economic issues, which are very important to our members. However, an important non-economic issue, nurse-patient ratios, has not been resolved. Your team is steadfast in their concerns for patient care and safety. This is what we do every day and we would like to give our patients all the time and care they deserve. We cannot do this if we have too many patients. Management does not agree with us that putting some type of language in our contract that deals with nurse-patient ratios will resolve this. We disagree, and have since the beginning of our negotiations. File under: Bargaining

11-4-09 SBMC Negotiation Update Today, we held meetings all day for the nurses in Livingston, to present to you, the complete proposal that management offered at the conclusion of negotiations on Monday. The attendance was impressively high and your voices were heard ! You, the members of NJNU, with a 90% majority vote, gave YOUR bargaining team the approval of authorizing a 10 day strike notice if it is deemed necessary. First thing on Thursday morning, we will be contacting SBMC management to request that our negotiations continue on Friday. We thank you for your overwhelming support and confidence in this bargaining team…and we will continue to fight for you ! Remember we all are a part of the NJNU “TEAM” because: File under: Bargaining
