12-18-09 KMC/SBBHC Negotiation Update
12-18-09 NEGOTIATION UPDATE To our members at KMC/SBBHC, we want to inform you that NJNU has notified the Hospital that NJNU seeks mediation to resolve these negotiations. This is for several reasons. One is they do not want to give our per diem nurses any raise at all during this contract. They work by our side, and should receive at least whatever raise the full time and part time nurses get. Also, the Hospital is limiting your use of Workshop time for certification and re-certifications to one day, and not even that, it will only be for the actual hours you are at the course, not to exceed one day. This reduction in use of your Workshop time is not justified, not fair, and not right. We want the same language that we got in the contract for St. Barnabas, which allows up to two days. Your NJNU team is not being unreasonable in their efforts to get you at least what you deserve. We do not have a date from the mediator for sessions as yet, but he has given us dates over the next two weeks, assuming the Hospital agrees to those dates. When we do have dates we will let you know. And please know that your team continues to work hard for you. We know that the Hospital is telling some of you that you do not have Union representatives working on your behalf now. This is incorrect and divisive. YOU DO have representation.
