11-19-09 SBMC Bargaining Updates

Yesterday, the SBMC negotiating team went back to the bargaining table.  We thought we were making substantial progress regarding our contract for negotiating a 1 year contract which would become a 2 year contract if management guaranteed a wage increase and would have our pension reinstated in 2011.

However, the hospital demanded we surrender all rights to challenge the pension freeze even if there was no reinstatement, as well as, they would not agree that if they gave ANY other employee in SBMC a raise greater than ours they would provide that same increase to us.  

We ended negotiations after a 14 hour day and will hopefully resume negotiations later today or Friday.

We haven’t stopped bargaining a fair contract for you.
