1) The Employer will freeze your pension for 2010 (no contribution at all for the Cash Balance or Legacy Plans); will not match your 401(K) contribution; and will not commit to restoring them after 2010.  You will lose all interest on the lost pension contributions and 401(K) match for all future years.

2) There will be NO RAISE IN 2009, and no raise until August 2010.  THIS MEANS THAT YOU WILL GO TWENTY-ONE MONTHS BETWEEN RAISES AND THERE WILL BE NO OTHER RAISE DURING CONTRACT.

3) When you do get a raise in August 2010, it will be all of 2%. This is inclusive of any step increase, so that this is all you will get for the entire contract.   They will also pay a “bonus” of $500 in January 2010, which after taxes is about $300, which is about $5.75 per week (or one muffin a week).  For part time employees, the bonus will be reduced.

4) PER DIEMS WILL NOT GET ANY RAISE OR BONUS AT ALL AT ANY TIME DURING THE TWO YEAR CONTRACT.  NOTHING.

We think that this is disrespectful to you and the hard work that you have done.   At these meetings, you may be asked to vote whether to authorize the NJNU Bargaining Committee to issue a 10-day strike notice if they deem it appropriate.  It is therefore essential that you attend a meeting tomorrow.  You are the Union, and you must be strong and respect yourself and the nurses you work with.
