10-31-09 NEGOTIATION UPDATE
Please be advised, the Livingston RN and LPN contracts have been extended for one week from the expiration date of our current contract. Your negotiating team concluded bargaining at 10 pm Friday, October 30, 2009 with most of the RN non-economic issues settled. We are still discussing lay-off language in the LPN contract.
NJNU presented management our proposals on economics for both contracts in Livingston, and management rejected our proposals and has not offered any counter proposal at this time.
For KMC/SBBHC, management has rejected all of our economic counter proposals and stated that we would receive no more than the non-union employee’s would receive. This means no wage increase in 2009 as well as no increase in 24 months.
We are resuming negotiations on Monday, November 2, 2009.
For Livingston, we will be having a meeting on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 to either present you a package for ratification or to have an in depth discussion on where we are at that point and how to proceed going forward.
For KMC/SBBHC, your bargaining team will notify you of your meeting as soon as possible.
After negotiations conclude on Monday, we will inform you as to the status of our contract. In that message, we will let you know when and where the meeting will be. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you all attend this meeting!
Please check the message board at 1-866-999-NJNU/6568 and the NJNU website, for more information. Register your email address at www.njnu.org to receive the updates in your email.
As always, please wear blue on Thursdays and your NJNU bracelet daily to show your support and solidarity. We are working very hard to negotiate fair contracts for all!
