10-25-09 KMC/SBBHC Negotiation Update
KMC/SBBHC Negotiation Update On October 22, 2009 Joe Hicks called a "town meeting" of sorts in which he announced that all NON-UNION employees will be receiving a 2% raise in August and $500 bonus in January. He further added that their pension accrual will be frozen along with their 401K match. Management made it a point to get those employees to this meeting and to emphasize the words non-union! Those employees cheered standing right next to our bargaining unit nurses in KMC and SBBHC. At the very same time of that meeting the Livingston team was negotiating with the St. Barnabas Medical Center and they never mentioned a word about what they were doing in Lakewood, showing complete disrespect for the nurses at all three facilities and total disregard for the process of negotiations. Both NJNU teams have always negotiated in good faith and for management to sit across the table knowing full well of what was transpiring in Lakewood is in our view unacceptable and deceitful. We are OUTRAGED at this behavior and so should our members be. We have requested an immediate session for the KMC/SBBHC team and St. Barnabas. There will be a membership meeting sometime this week so stay informed as to when and where. Let us say that both your teams are working hard to achieve a fair contract for all our members. Now more than ever in light of management’s tactics we must remain strong and united.
